About The Author:

Angela Retano is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a New York State licensed Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry with prescription privileges. Ms. Retano earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Science from New York University School of Nursing. Ms. Retano also holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Slippery Rock University, and she is a graduate of the Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education, an affiliate of New York University. Ms. Retano is currently a third-year candidate – adult psychoanalysis at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education affiliated with New York University.

She currently devotes all of her time to her busy New York City Practice in which she provides psychodynamic psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy when indicated. Ms. Retano can also provide expert testimony regarding nursing practice and is registered with the Technical Advisory Service for Attorneys (The TASA Group). Her work experience encompasses a diversity of treatment settings including residential treatment, community mental health work, and teaching. She is an active member the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association, the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association, and the American Psychoanalytic Association.

Carla Nasca, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral fellow of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in the laboratory of Neuroendocrinology at the Rockefeller University, New York. Dr. Nasca received her B.A. in Molecular Biology and her M.S. in Electrophysiology from the University of Palermo in Italy. She earned her Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Pharmacology from the University Sapienza in Rome, Italy, before moving to The Rockefeller University under the mentorship of Dr. Bruce McEwen.
