About The Author:

Amy Alpine, Ph.D., is a practicing psychotherapist in Seattle, Washington. Her areas of expertise include addiction, anxiety, depression, sex and relationships. Dr. Alpine is a Diplomat of the American Board of Sexology, a Board Certified Counselor and a Board Certified Addiction Specialist.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Alpine has been a talk show host, writer, reporter and producer for major market radio and television stations. A professional stand-up comedian since 1991, Dr. Alpine is currently combining her interests by producing a documentary on the use of comedy as a coping mechanism for at-risk teenage boys dealing with dangerous and emotional situations.

Carla Nasca, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral fellow of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in the laboratory of Neuroendocrinology at the Rockefeller University, New York. Dr. Nasca received her B.A. in Molecular Biology and her M.S. in Electrophysiology from the University of Palermo in Italy. She earned her Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Pharmacology from the University Sapienza in Rome, Italy, before moving to The Rockefeller University under the mentorship of Dr. Bruce McEwen.
